Java Web Developer / System Architect

This is a great opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the software design, development and release processes as well as becoming part of the glue that keeps a small, agile software company successful.

We're looking for a creative person who can invent, lead, connect with others, make things happen and create order out of chaos. This is not simple instruction-following work; work where you're told exactly what to do. As a team we are geographically distributed (Redlands, CA / Denver, CO / Washington DC / London, UK) and have shed the 9-to-5 office job a long time ago. You'll need to be comfortable exchanging information digitally and attending occasional meetings - in person and virtually. Our company is growing quickly, so this role offers plenty of opportunity to advance.

Responsibilities will include:

• A bit of everything...we are a small company and everyone does a bit of everything
• Maintain and improve existing java source code while also developing next-generation technologies
• Implement user interfaces working closely with a designer
• Design and implement pluggable frameworks
• Integrate with many 3rd party software packages

Ideal candidates will be:

• excellent Java software developers
• familiar with Apache Wicket
• familiar with Apache Lucene/Solr
• familiar with HTML, JQuery, XML, and XSLT
• familiar with Spring or Guice
• familiar with java build tools including Maven, SVN, Trac, Hudson, JUnit, and Eclipse
• self-motivated and stay current with improvements in the field
• self-managed and organized
